Someone once asked me:
"What's it like to run an entertainment company?"
Actually they didn't, but it's a nice lead in to the story.
BUT...if you ever wondered how messed up and crazy a performer's life really is... you've come to the right place.
It's August 2015, and I'm sitting in my office. A laptop comuter in my back yard here in Tulsa, Oklahoma. It's 85 degrees (kind of cool for August in Oklahoma) and a million and one ideas are going around in my mind. Did I mention I'm a little ADD?
"Ooh, I should add inflatables". "What about a Zombie Murder Mystery?" etc etc.
Anywho, my real office is inside, but my wife told me that I should get some sunshine today, so that's exactly what I'm doing.
At any moment, the phone may ring, an email might appear, asking me for an Elvis Singing Telegram, a Photo Booth for a Wedding, or a Circus Performer for a big event.
Not only do I have to be ready, but I also have to write the Telegram, contact one of my regular freelance performers , dress up as a Gorilla!
You name it, we deliver it... Within reason.
So what's a typical day like? There really isn't one.
Over the past 5 years, I've been asked to do so many weird and wonderful things.
I even had a lady leave me a very suggestive voice mail, asking for a stripper. Believe me, no one wants to see that.
Not only do I perform, but I run the office, buy the props and costumes, talk to the clients and loads more. One day I'll hire more people. At least that's the dream!
So next time you see a Gorilla in a skirt, a Singing Elvis, or a Juggling Clown, please give me a wave. It may be a crazy job...but it sure is fun!
